MUSIC COMES ALIVE IN VICKSBURG

In the summer of 2014 as Chris Moore stood on the roof of the old Lee Paper Mill overlooking the expansive landscape, he thought: “This would be a really cool place to see a concert.” That moment sparked an evolving conversation to put in motion a program devoted to music, art and culture. The Mill Music Residency introduces events and entertainment to Vicksburg, Michigan, complementing the Prairie Ronde Artist Residency (PRAR) that has been bringing visual artists and musicians to the village of Vicksburg since 2017.  

BREAKING  BOUNDARIES

The Mill Music Residency supports artists of every level along their musical journey by sharing their gifts with the Vicksburg community. Designed with musicians in mind, this by-invitation program offers a space for artists of all backgrounds and group sizes to experiment, practice, record and perform. There are truly no boundaries or limitations to what artists can do during their residency; the only obligation is a giveback performance.   

VIRTUAL RESIDENCY

We currently offer an opportunity to join our Virtual Music Residency to be completed 100% online! This invitation-only program will allow for musicians to work with our talented production team to produce original content and gain new audiences. Digital Exposure:

Musicians will be compensated $300 in exchange for 30 minutes of usable content* which will be recorded, produced and promoted in coordination with our production team following this schedule: 

• During Week 1, we will promote artists on both The Mill’s and PRAR’s social platforms  
• During Week 2, we will release two singles and the full-content video over the span of the week  
• Participants will work with us to create a plan that promotes the content on their own social channels  

*Artists will maintain ownership of their intellectual property

COMING SOON

Our crew is in the process of expanding the Music Residency, where ultimately, musicians will have the opportunity to work at The Mill at Vicksburg during the duration of their residency. Our in-person residency will offer musicians a playground of inspiration and build towards a single culminating event.

• 1-2  months duration chosen by each resident  
• Private  residence
• Unlimited access to on-site amenities including space to practice, perform and record
• 1 community giveback performance at the end of your stay  
• $2,500  Stipend
