The Vicksburg Village council unanimously approved the redevelopment of the old paper mill on Monday.
The vote removes the hurdles from the village to begin the process on the $50 million mixed-use Mill at Vicksburg project by Paper City Development.
Vicksburg Village Manager Jim Mallery said in a statement, “The 7-0 vote tonight by the Vicksburg Village Council reiterates our commitment to helping grow this community with innovative projects like The Mill. We believe that the Mill will add to our current events and projects that are helping establish the Village as a destination. We look forward to engaging in the next steps of the project with Paper City Development.”
The project was granted and loaned $1.35 million by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to clean up the brownfield site before the development.
Paper City Development hopes to start the project in 2019 with a planned finish date sometime in 2025.
