Progress continues with restoration efforts on the downtown “Hills’ Buildings.”
We’ve made big strides throughout late December and January stabilizing the west site where there had been significant excavation for repair of the building foundation, the installation of new gas lines to service the building for future uses and the pouring of new foundations for the steel stair that has been installed. This stair allows us to meet current building codes for an exit from the second-floor spaces. It also connects these spaces to the courtyard below.
Our front façade work is continuing steadily. The building has been wrapped for heat protection while the masons and construction crews are onsite during such low temps and inclement weather. Woodworkers are preparing to add framing and trim to window and door openings in the façade of the storefronts in each 106, 108 and 110 S. Main.
