The State of Michigan has agreed to invest $30 million into transforming The Mill at Vicksburg, a project expected to bring hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in private investment to the Village of Vicksburg.
The funding comes from the Transformational Brownfield Plan, a state program that allows developers to use a portion of certain tax revenue for a specified period of time. In order to be eligible for the funding, projects must be expected to have a positive impact on economic development and community revitalization.
“The name ‘transformational’ means something,” said Jackie Koney, the Chief Operating Officer for Paper City Development. “It’s because it’s going to be a transformation for the Village of Vicksburg and the whole region.”
